Started work on this area that I’ve had planned for a while, but wasn’t sure exactly where it would go until recently. These are still very early screenshots as I’m figuring out how everything I want here will fit together.
Also! Some bugs with map loading & appearance were fixed, and maps load way faster now due to some additional caching of tileset data.
The start of a new map for the “Sunbeam” sky archipelago region, which is the area where Maple’s apartment will be when she first arrives at this world.
This glass walkway will likely serve as a main connection between the various sky island archipelagos via teleportation, and will parallel a similar skyway I’ve been working on at the surface layer that will connect different parts of the world.
The world map for the sky region hasn’t been made yet, but it will have to be done in such a way that makes these connections make sense so the sky can be navigable with minimal confusion.
On an unrelated note, this is Lilac. You’ll often see her sleeping or just hanging around here and there. She’s been around for a surprisingly long time, and Maple will eventually discover the nature of her connection to the vivid universe.
That said, the initial focus of development is on gameplay, and a lot of this character development and lore stuff will come later once the game is fun.
First take on a world map display, that shows where Maple currently is, and allows you to browse around at the rest of the world. Multiple world layers (like Skyline’s surface, sky, and space) are individually selectable.
Maple’s location flashes in green, and the selected tile is highlighted with a blue outline, while the map it falls in is highlighted in flashing white.
Probably once objectives are a thing (soon?) the current tracked one’s location, when applicable, will be shown somewhere here also.
This is an idle mini-game that will incorporate items found in the rest of the game, and also give rewards that impact the rest of the game.
The slimes have been named Marmalade and come in different flavors. You can grow them here and harvest their flavor essence. Come back occasionally and buy them some upgrades until you can afford to exchange for some weapons, items, continuum fragments, and other fun things.
This is one of (eventually!) many minigames that will tie into the main game this way.
Here are some more early screenshots of Marmalade Merge!
Grabbing one to merge with another.
Checking out some upgrades.
Making a new Marmalade.
An exchange for various rewards from the minigame.
Containment where you can stuff Marmalades to get them out of the way.
Development is still very early, but here are a couple preliminary screenshots.
Maple at her new apartment, in the skies above a world in the vivid universe.
Maple at Wendy’s house, on the surface below her apartment
Maple chased by some slime enemies.

A shop at Maple’s home world, Cambium.
Anise at her house.
Add bonuses to Maple by slotting hexagonal shapes into an expandable grid. She’ll be able to get these fragments from combat, minigames, shops, and other places.
